Expect detours in Augusta Township for drain cleaning work

By Lisa Allmendinger

The Washtenaw County Water Resources Commission and Mead Brothers Excavating were expected to begin drain cleaning work Tuesday on the Sugar Creek Extension Drain at the culvert crossing under McCrone Road in Augusta Township.

The work is being done on McCrone between Willow Road and Talladay Road and on Gooding Road, between Arkona Road and Willow Road.

The maintenance activity is expected to take approximately five days.

Drivers should expect intermittent road closures on McCrone Road and traffic delays are likely.

Local traffic only from either end of the road and large vehicles are advised to seek an alternate route, according to information from the Road Commission.

Gooding Road will be closed to all but local traffic at the drain crossing just south of the railroad crossing, and motorists are advised to follow the posted detour route.

Cleaning operations are weather dependent.
