Ken Magee, the former University of Michigan police chief, was not chosen as Wayland's police chief, MLive.com reports.

Magee was among three finalists for the job in Wayland, a city of more than 4,000 residents south of Grand Rapids.

Steven Harper, commander of the Michigan State Police Wayland post, ultimately was chosen as the next police chief. Kevin Lenkart, a retired shift lieutenant for the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, also was a candidate, according to the story.

Magee resigned from U-M in November 2010 after signing a settlement agreement that paid him a year of sick leave, AnnArbor.com previously reported. He was paid $182,000. He later opened a magic shop on East Liberty Street in Ann Arbor.

The new Wayland chief will be paid $60,000 per year, plus benefits, the story said.

Oh c'mon Julie. NARC is short for "Narcotics Officer." It's what Kenny (as he refers to himself) was before he worked for U of M. All I did was express disappointment that Kenny didn't get the job.

Unless I miss my guess, this post was pointing out typos. Either that or there is a new culinary phenomenon sweeping across law enforcement.
