First University of Michigan student-built satellite scheduled to blast off Friday

When 78-foot-tall rocket launches in Kodiak, Alaska, Friday night, it will be carrying a history-making satellite for the University of Michgan, the Detroit Free Press reports. A 6.5 pound satellite on board is the first completely student-built satellite in the university's history, the newspaper said. Students spent two years making the satellite that will conduct space weather experiments.
