Event to discuss health care law's impact on seniors to be held in Chelsea
An event to discuss the potential impact of the recently passed health care law will be held in Chelsea by Representative Mark Schauer on Friday afternoon.
It will take place at the Washington Street Education Center, 512 Washington St., starting at 2:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
The event is geared toward Washtenaw County senior citizens who have questions. It will be the fifth such event held by Schauer, including one in Jackson.
Previous events have covered questions ranging from the timeline under which seniors might begin seeing changes from the law to the closing of the so-called doughnut hole for prescription coverage through Medicare Part D, said Schauer spokesman Zachary Pohl.
The event isn't limited to Medicare questions. Other topics have included how the new law may impact small business owners, as well as younger people, he said. A representative from Association for the Advancement of Retired Persons is expected to be in attendance to help answer questions, Pohl said.
