Skyline High School assistant principal leaving to take over as South Lyon High School principal

By Kyle Feldscher

Ann Arbor Skyline High School Assistant Principal Chad Scaling will be leaving the school next week after accepting the principal position at South Lyon High School, the school announced Friday.

Scaling served as the Integrity and Diversity Small Learning Community principal at Skyline. He will be leaving the school on Tuesday to assume his new position in South Lyon.

Judy Conger will take over Scaling’s position on an interim basis. Conger served as principal of Community High School for many years before retiring from Ann Arbor Public Schools, the district said.

It's it a bit odd that the announcement of Mr. Scaling's leaving was made on Friday, Sept. 10th and his last day is Tuesday, Sept. 14th? What happened to 2 weeks notice? And for key administrators in positions such as Mr. Scaling's, shouldn't he give MORE than 2 weeks notice? I second the idea of bringing Mike Madison to Skyline; he's an excellent educator and administrator.

I would think that although this bad news for some, the district should strongly consider transfering Principal Madison from the Dicken Elementary School to this high school position. Madison is more qualified to work at the high school level and those that remember him from his tenure at Forsthye, which feeds into Skyline, respect and love Principal Madison. It would become a win-win situation for all!
