Chelsea High School Top Scholars

Chelsea High School held its 2010 graduation ceremonies June 6 in the gymnasium. The class had 220 graduates.

Diana Christine Bach

Parents’ name(s): Carl and Janice Bach

Activities and awards: Diana was co-captain of the varsity girls’ tennis team, a member of the National Honor Society, Interact, the CHS Band and a member of the Irish Dance Team. Diana was nominated as Outstanding Student in science in 9th, 10th and 11th grade. She was the 2009 Regional Physics Bowl winner. Diana was a National Merit Finalist, a Presidential Scholar candidate and made All-SEC Academic Conference.

Plans after graduation: Diana plans to attend the University of Michigan or Oberlin College to study engineering.

Amanda Kelsey Craig

Parents’ name(s): Joel and Amy Craig

Activities and awards: Amanda has performed Celtic dance with the Chelsea House Orchestra, was a member of the Daichiel Thistle Dance Group, participated in many activities of the Waterloo Farm Society and was a National Honor Society member. Amanda has received scholarships for the Scottish Arts Distinguished Highland Dance, the Distinguished Trustee Summit, and the St. Andrews Society, as well as the Presidential Scholarship. She was also an Academic Letter recipient all three years.

Plans after graduation: Amanda plans to attend Alma College to study exercise and health science.

Olivia Catherine DeTroyer

Parents’ name(s): Richard DeTroyer and Barbara Johnstone

Activities and awards: Olivia participated in track and field. She was on student council and was a member of the National Honor Society. She has received the University of Michigan Regents Scholarship.

Plans after graduation: Olivia plans to attend the University of Michigan to study chemical engineering.

Graham Charles Clark Emberton

Parents’ name(s): Sara and Ian Cumming and Paul Emberton

Activities and awards: Graham played with the Chelsea Symphony Orchestra and was in National Honor Society. He has received numerous music awards including the Outstanding Music Student in 2008 and 2009. He was selected as Outstanding Freshman in social studies and Excellence in English as a freshman. Graham has received the Butler University Academic and Talent Scholarship.

Plans after graduation: Graham plans to attend Butler University to study secondary education.

Nickolas Ivan Forsch

Parents’ name(s): Dr. Randall and Christine Forsch

Activities and awards: Nick participated in Science Olympiad, Boy Scouts, Link Crew, Interact, and was on student council. Nick was named to the SEC All-Academic Conference. He was named a Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg Scholar and Washington University in St. Louis Gustav Kurt Mesmer Scholar. Plans after graduation: Nick is considering Washington University in St. Louis, the University of Michigan or Johns Hopkins University where he will study biomedical engineering.

Kelly Therese Fournier

Parents name(s): Gordon and Anna Fournier

Activities and awards: Kelly played varsity soccer and was class secretary on student council. She was a member of the National Honor Society. Kelly received the Michigan State Honors College State Scholarship as well as the Michigan State Professional Assistantship Scholarship.

Plans after graduation: Kelly plans to attend Michigan State University to study engineering or business.

Kate Louise Lewis-Lakin

Parents’ name(s): Shawn and Barbara Lewis-Lakin

Activities and Awards: Kate was on the water polo and swim teams for four years. She played with the Chelsea House Orchestra, was in Interact and was the National Honor Society president. Kate received the Ohio Wesleyan University Founder’s Scholarship and the Schubert Honors Scholarship. She was the American Legion Award recipient and a National Merit Finalist.

Plans after graduation: Kate plans to attend Ohio Wesleyan University to study Political Science and Pre-Law.

Viktor Ferenc Rozsa

Parents’ name(s): Frank and Szonja Rozsa

Activities and awards: Viktor was in Science Olympiad, Chelsea House Orchestra, National Honor Society, Chess Club and played boys’ tennis. Viktor received the Johnson Scholarship from Washington and Lee University and the Distinct Scholar Scholarship from Hillsdale College. He was an AP Scholar with honors and a National Merit Finalist.

Plans after graduation: Viktor is considering Hillsdale University, the University of Michigan or Washington and Lee University where he plans to study physics.

John Kirby Stebelton

Parents’ name(s): Michael and Linda Stebelton

Activities and awards: John was a member of the CHS Bowling Club, National Society of High School Scholars, Immanuel Bible Youth Group and the National Honor Society. He earned his Academic letter all three years. He received the Lawrence Technological University Scholarship and will graduate summa cum laude.

Plans after graduation: John plans to attend Lawrence Technological University to study architecture and civil engineering.

Tristan David Weber

Parents’ name(s): David and Constance Weber

Activities and awards: Tristan was a member of Symphony Orchestra, Chelsea House Orchestra, Chess Club, Interact and Science Olympiad. He was SEC All-Academic Conference, a Michigan Math Test Finalist for two years, and a National Merit Finalist. He has received the University of Michigan Engineering Scholarship of Honor.

Plans after graduation: Tristan plans to attend the University of Michigan to study engineering.
