This article has been corrected to reflect Susan Martin's salary, which is less than originally stated because she has turned down two raises.

Eastern Michigan University President Susan Martin's contract is expected to be renewed at a special Board of Regents meeting Friday at noon.

The board announced the special meeting in April and chairwoman Francine Parker said the eight-member governing body is behind EMU's president, whose existing contract expires July 7.

"I want to reiterate that President Martin continues to have our full support," Parker said April 19.

Martin has been president of EMU since 2008 and has said she wants to continue in the role for the foreseeable future. The details of her contract extension aren't yet known.

Martin's present salary is $292,125. She turned down her last two raises. Her beginning salary in 2008 was $285,000. Martin is eligible for a $10,000 performance bonus in July, to be awarded at the discretion of the board.

The meeting is taking place at 201 Welch Hall, EMU's administration building.

Rubberstamped. I would like someone to ask her how she thinks it is remotely fair to give a student from the Middle Eastern country of Jordan, an in state rate of tuition, while an American from just across the border in Ohio has to pay the full rate.

Good for her! I hope she is around for another 10 years. In spite of the naysayers on this board, she has brought alot of positive visibility to EMU.:)
