The driver of a minivan that struck and seriously injured a man in a wheelchair Thursday on Carpenter Road doesn't appear to be at fault, a Pittsfield Township police news release said.

A 52-year-old Pittsfield Township man was being pushed in his wheelchair by his caregiver across Carpenter Road near Center Valley Drive at 2:05 p.m., the release said.

According to the release, they weren't in a crosswalk and a minivan traveling south on Carpenter Road hit the wheelchair, seriously injuring the man. He was taken by ambulance to a hospital and is expected to survive.

The caregiver and driver of the minivan weren't injured, the release said.

Police continue to investigate the accident.
