Downed wires slow traffic on Jackson Road in Scio Township

By John Counts

Downed power lines were affecting traffic in the 4700 block of Jackson Avenue around 4:45 p.m. Friday.

The Scio Township Fire Department confirmed they had dispatched trucks out to deal with the issue.

Lane closures were expected temporarily while officials worked on the problem.

Our power was out for 18 hours. Turns out they didn't operate many of their crews overnight. Made the difference between losing a lot of food. I am not a DTE fan right now.

More weak infrastructure issues for DTE but don't expect any of our 'media' to investigate (they just xerox press releases here) or write about this situation. DTE is making money but not spending on infrastructure. Why should they? They have a monopoly.

Around 11:30 PM Friday, we again lost power, but this time for an hour. I am guessing that Edison turned off power to replace equipment in the substation. Just got a robo-call from DTE apologizing for my "inconvenience." A little early on a Saturday morning for phone calls. And it is inconvenient. Have to set all the clocks in the house for a second time. Edison does seem to have a lot of outages. We've had to install an automatic 10 KW natural gas powered generator to make sure the sump pump and other essentials like the well, furnace and beer fridge work.

Police were still blocking the road across the street from Two Wheel Tango as of 11pm Friday night. I went to pick up my son from work, and had to go around the block. Like shine16, glad to see it wasn't an accident.

I came upon the police roadblock and had to turn around. I was afraid it was because of a bad car accident. Glad to see this article. :)

That would be Ann Arbor Township.

Google maps claim that anything with an Ann Arbor mailing address is Ann Arbor Charter Township. Someone ought to tell them.

The Google Map is incorrect. It is indeed Scio.

We're about a half mile north of this and our power flickered and went out for about a minute at 4:25 PM. Strangely, after the power went out, we heard a big boom. There is a substation at that location between Jackson Rd. and I-94.
