Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for a man driving a Buick suspected in recent burglaries and larcenies around the Dexter area.

The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office is looking for a white man in his early 20s driving a 1997 metallic silver and tan Buick with the license plate CNR7400, according to an alert issued over the Nixle messaging system Thursday.

The vehicle and registered owner have been involved in recent burglaries and larcenies in and around Dexter and the Webster Township area.

If you have any information please contact the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office at (734) 994-2911 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.

The Nixle system is so sporadic and unreliable. I did not receive the initial alert, but did receive the cancellation of the alert for this Buick this morning.

You are correct, Martha. The sheriff's office sent out this Nixle alert about a half hour ago announcing that the suspect was taken into custody: https://local.nixle.com/alert/5058887/?sub_id=871572 dexterreader: I asked the WSCO yesterday for information about the specific incidents and contacted them again this morning about the suspect being caught. Hopefully they will provide me with the information for a follow-up story soon.

As a township resident, I would be interested to hear more details about his capture and alleged activities. Hopefully there will be a follow-up article.

The Sheriff's Department announced early this morning that the suspect is now in custody.

If the owner of the car is known, why hasn't he been arrested? He has to live somewhere in the area.

It would probably be more helpful if they named the model of the Buick... they do have the license plate number after all...

Exactly. They know the precise year but not the model?
