Pioneer High School graduate and Ann Arbor native Sarah Lally and her husband Brendon Lally received a special visit from three Detroit Lions players during their wedding reception Saturday.

When Sarah saw a few men standing outside of The Henry in Dearborn where family and friends were gathered to celebrate, she thought they were teammates of her brother, Drake Johnson, who plays on the University of Michigan football team.

Sarah and Brendon went outside to say hello and their photographer from Russell Photography, told them to take a picture with the men.

“I went outside and realized that I didn’t know these people, but our photographer told us to stand by them and I didn’t think anything of it because he was telling me to take pictures all night,” Sarah said. “By this time I hear people saying ‘is that Suh’ and finally I realized this is the guy from the Lions.”

Lions defensive linemen Ndamukong Suh, Nick Fairley and Ziggy Ansah took photos with the newlyweds outside the reception hall and congratulated the couple.

“I think the Lions were conferencing around the corner from where our room was and I think they heard our band, Grove Spoon, because they were really loud and really good. I think they just strolled over to see what was going on. It was kind of cool because all of our guests were excited to see the players stop by.”

Sarah said she thinks the team was staying at the hotel for a team practice.

“The music was spot on and everyone in the room was having fun and had a smile on their face,” Sarah said. “I feel like it was almost a magnet because there was so much love and so much fun that anyone who was walking by wanted to poke their head in for a minute. It was fun to see them stop by.”

Sarah and Brendon are residents of Brighton, but will be moving to Dexter after the completion of the house they are building.

Looks like everyone was having fun. Did you notice somebody was giving the bride bunny ears?

WalkingJoe, that was the first thing I noticed when looking through the pictures. Pretty funny! Sarah Lally pointed it out in her email to AnnArbor.com and said she loved that Suh was giving her bunny ears.

Totally inappropriate if you ask me. Too childish. These people need to grow up. Sorry but I don't know these people and they would have been tossed.

So they were wedding crashers?

At least they didn't get into a three point stance before they crashed it. Sounds like they're good guys who aren't stuck on themselves.

In consideration of bankruptcy, the Detroit Zoo's lions also are available for special events.

Everyone needs a good story from their wedding day - and this will certainly fill the bill. Congrats to the couple - and glad to see these Lions being good sports about being photographed with them.
