Dexter Village Council to hold public hearing on fines portion of proposed medical marijuana ordinance
The Dexter Village Council will hold a public hearing Monday at 7:30 p.m. to allow public comment on a portion of its proposed new zoning code that would allow medical marijuana dispensaries in the village.
The fines for violating the village’s medical marijuana ordinance are proposed to be $1,000 for the first violation, $2,000 for the first repeat violation and $3,000 for a subsequent violation.
The council is expected to discuss the ordinance during the meeting but it is not planning to take any action. A moratorium on dispensaries is in effect until March 21.
The Dexter Village Council meets at the Dexter Senior Center, 7720 Ann Arbor St., at 7:30 p.m.

Dexter should have followed Saline's lead. These places are coming under more and more scrutiny for abuses. The fines should be set at the maximum limit for any offense to discourage illegal activity.

The ordinance seems to be reasonable. Adrian would be smart to look at this.
