Dexter Township will spend more than $100,000 on road projects this year
Dexter Township officials plan to spend more than $100,000 on seven road projects as well as dust control this year with the Washtenaw County Road Commission.
Residents can expect to see improvements on:
- Donner Road from Island Lake Road to Colby Road, where the surface will be reshaped and about 1,875 tons of gravel will be added at an estimated cost of $19,500.
- Colby Road from Riker Road east to Donner Road, where the surface will be fixed and about 1,495 tons of gravel will be added at an estimated cost of $15,500.
- Fleming Road from Dexter-Pinckney Road west to McGuiness Road will also get a facelift and about 1,330 tons of limestone will be added at an estimated cost of $18,500.
- Wylie Road from Dexter-Pinckney Road to Dexter Gables Lane will be resurfaced with about 1,164 tons of limestone at an estimated cost of $16,000.
- Wylie Road from Island Lake Road south to Lima Township will be reshaped and about 1,064 tons of limestone will be added at an estimated cost of $15,000.
- Fleming Road from Dexter-Pinckney Road to Dexter Townhall Road will have berm removal and restoration work at an estimated cost of $8,700.
- Madden Road from Colby Road to Quigley Road and Colby Road from Donner Road to Riker Road will also have berm removal and restoration work at an estimated cost of $5,800.
The total cost for the planned projects is about $127,000 but with matching funds, the township will pay about $103,500.
All 25.45 miles of certified gravel roads will get three solid applications of dust control at a price of about $27,950.
These road projects were approved and budgeted for by the board prior to the tornado that ripped through the township on March 15.
