Dexter Village Council hires consultant for master plan review
The Village of Dexter plans to update its master plan this year and has hired Carlisle Wortman of Ann Arbor to in the process.
The village adopted its first master plan in April 2005 and amended it in 2006, according to information provided by the planning consultant, which was involved in that effort as well.
According a state law called the Michigan Planning Enabling Act, a municipality must review its master plan every five years.
Since the master plan's initial adoption, the village has approved plans for a complete streets program and non-motorized pathways throughout the village.
The Dexter Village Council approved $10,000 for the review process on Jan. 10. The review will include a series of meetings with village staff, the Planning Commission and Village Council as well as a public hearing.
Village staff will distribute and tabulate a village community survey and update the village’s demographic information.
Work is expected to begin in February and conclude in December.
