Audit, road projects on Dexter Village Council agenda tonight
The Dexter Village Council will hear several presentations about its finances and hold a discussion of upcoming street improvements at its regular meeting tonight.
Rana Emmons, the village’s auditor, will go through the village’s annual audit and Marie Sherry, the village finance director, will go over her second quarter report.
“Revenue is looking good for this quarter,” she says in her report, noting that there are six areas she’s watching on the expense side of the budget.
Among the notables are attorney's fees, which are higher than normal for this time of year because of increased use of attorneys for the village’s proposed medical marijuana ordinance.
Following the presentations, the Village Council is expected to approve its 2009-2010 audit as well as changes to the street light, municipal and local street accounts. Fund transfers were needed for road and LED project work.
On the consent agenda is the approval of a site change for the Dexter Relay for Life planned for May 14-15. Previously, the American Cancer Society event took place on walking paths behind Cornerstone, Mill Creek and Wylie schools. The group hopes a change in venue will increase its fundraising efforts.
The Village Council meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Dexter Senior Center, 7720 Ann Arbor St.
