Debate over Michigan gubernatorial debates continues
The question of whether there will be debates in the Michigan governor's race remains unanswered.
The campaigns of Republican Rick Snyder and Democrat Virg Bernero apparently are in sync over having one debate before the Detroit Economic Club and another on public television.
Snyder's campaign wants to hold a third debate at CBS affiliate WWTV in northern Michigan, while Bernero's campaign prefers a Flint or Traverse City commercial station.
Bernero's campaign says Friday in a release that it had accepted Snyder's proposal with modifications.
But Snyder's campaign says the Bernero camp was trying to change the agreement, that no final deal has been reached and that no further talks are scheduled.
That may not be the final word, but time is getting short to negotiate.

Looks like Snyder is ducking debating, yet again. http://www.woodtv.com/dpp/elections/Bernero-Snyder-agree-to-3-debates Quack. We're not your employees, Rick, we deserve to hear you debate on the issues, not gloss over them.

Gee jtafini...my Indian born and educated doctors aren't doing so poorly. Wasn't it Bill Clinton Who signed Nafta? You know...the bill that made it desirable for companies to relocate? The bill that clearly sanctions "slave" labor in China? The only wages Snyder can affect are those of the over-compensated civil service/union jobs. The private sector relies upon market conditions to set wage patterns...its called free market capitalism. Business people are the job creating mentality.Professional politicians...especially Democrats are still locked on tax and spend...about 70% percent of the country understands this and has laid aside their "party loyalty" for candidates who have fiscal (business) sense and experience. In fact as we speak Did not the Obama administration just "snyder" the auto industry..firings concessions and wage cuts? Did the moratorium on drilling cost jobs?...At all levels party loyalty doesn't seem the way to go...

I think 1-on-1 debates would be a waste of time. Especially when the poll numbers are showing such a huge disparity between the candidates. "Republican Rick Snyder has maintained the lead he built after the August primaries with a 20.3 percentage point cushion over Democratic opponent Virg Bernero and a shrinking pool of undecided voters." From The Detroit News: http://www.detnews.com/article/20100910/POLITICS02/9100389/1022/Poll--Snyder-keeps-lead-on-Bernero--with-few-undecided#ixzz0zEbu08nC Actually, my preference would be to see the two candidates holding town hall meetings and include members of the State Legislature. Maybe then we could get a glimpse of how they might right this sinking ship and how well they might be able to work together with the lawmakers in moving our Great Lake State forward!

Bring on as many debates as possible. If you vote for snyder you will make as much as his "employees" do in India.

Any idea of these the Public Television or Economic Club debates are available on the web? I did a brief search, and couldn't seem to find anything archived and available in video, audio, or text.

C'mon John Q, it is not just as likely that Mr. Bernero thinks he is ordering around his mayoral staff? I think the best solution is to add another debate. With an even number each candidate could each pick two, four, etc. locations. I guess these two can't get this settled, then perhaps neither are qualified to be governor.

Mr. Snyder thinks he's still the CEO ordering around his underlings.
