C.S. Mott Children's Hospital gets nod from U.S. News & World Report
C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital got a big nod today from U.S. News & World Report.
U.S. News counted Mott among 76 facilities nationwide that ranked highly in more than one of 10 pediatric specialties considered for the Best Children’s Hospital 2011-2012 list, released today.

Cardiology and Heart Surgery ranked the highest at No. 3 — up from No. 4 last year — on a list of the top 50 children’s hospitals in 10 specialties.
Other specialties recognized by U.S. News at Mott were:
- Cancer (No. 31, down from 25 in 2010)
- Diabetes and endocrinology (No. 22, up from 26 in 2010)
- Gastroenterology (No. 25, not available for 2010)
- Neonatology (No. 18, up from 22 in 2010)
- Nephrology (No. 20, up from 19)
- Neurology and neurosurgery (No. 27, not available for 2010)
- Orthopedics (No. 13, same in 2010)
- Pulmonology (No. 21, up from 22 in 2010)
- Urology (No. 20, up from 28 last year)
According to U.S. news, the rankings were based on self-reported data from a 95-page pediatric survey distributed to 177 children’s hospitals, of which 100 submitted data for the rankings. For more on the methodology, download this pdf.
