Ypsilanti Township convenience store robbed at gunpoint
A Circle K convenience store near the intersection of East Clark and North Prospect roads in Ypsilanti Township was robbed at gunpoint this morning, Washtenaw County sheriff's deputies said.
Deputies say a man walked in at 6:10 a.m., showed a handgun and demanded the cashier give him money from the register. He made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, investigators said.
Deputies released surveillance images this afternoon, hoping the public can help identify the robber.
The man was described as black, 5 feet, 10 inches tall and was wearing a puffy, baby blue coat with blue fur around the hood and sleeves, deputies said. He had a gray piece of clothing covering his face, investigators said.
Anyone with information can call the sheriff department's tip line at (734) 973-7711.

That area has always been plaqued by robberies. When I was a kid I used to work across the street at what then was the Starstop Party Store. I pumped gas. By the time I was 17. I was so used to having a gun pointed at me, that I didnt even flinch. Maybe they should roll down to LeForge Villa, Green Terrace or over into the MacArthur hoods and start looking. Chances are the robber will show up wearing his g/f's coat looking to score some dope.

I can only guess that the cashier could determine whether this was a male or female. (by voice) The picture, looks like a child to me. Glad the cashier was OK, and this robber gets caught.

@SW40, yes this same Stop-And-Rob was hit recently. The genius (alleged) perpetrator left his cell phone at the store. The suspect's girlfriend called the cell phone to ask for it back, and WCSD obliged and the suspect was caught this way. I hope for the same positive outcome with this case. I get my gas at this store and this gets me mad.

Wasn't this gas station just robbed a few weeks ago. Is this in Ypsilanti township or Superior Township seems pretty close to Macarthur Blvd. How many deputies are assigned to this area. The section 8 housing up there is a war zone. Its a shame that a once nice area has been ruined by a government housing project.

If you go to the nixle.com website that WCSO is using you get some great details. Apparently the robber also demanded 2 cartons of newports and yelled "my babies don't have no food at home" before fleeing. I don't understand the connection between cigarettes and unfed children but you all have to check out the story. It's hilarious and classic Ypsi.

I personally dont think there is anything funny about: A) a store being robbed at gunpoint. B) children not having food.

Could it be a woman? Men's coats don't have fur around the sleeves do they?
