Ypsilanti police say women went on drunken, flower-pulling spree downtown

By Steve Pepple

Ypsilanti police say three young women were arrested early Friday morning after they pulled flowers out of city flower pots along two blocks downtown.

Two 22-year-olds and a 21-year-old face charges of malicious destruction of property and public intoxication, according to a media summary.

Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Michigan Avenue about 3 a.m. Friday after receiving reports that three women were pulling flowers from the city flower pots, the summary said. Further details weren't immediately available.

I agree with Andy except for one day in jail. ( I think they would enjoy the day to much). Dress them in ORANGE and have them replant on a busy Saturday. (and no gloves allowed). If the 3 don't like this, perhaps in early spring they can purchase all flowers, and plant every pot in the city.

Aw, tell me not that memory sheds gladness o'er the past, what is recalled by faded flowers, save that they did not last.

Downtown Ypsilanti has been fairly calm actually. The big news was the drunk lady bumping into Robert DeNiro last summer. And even she said "Excuse me". Downtown Ann Arbor seems to be the hot spot lately...jewelry stores and medical marijuana shops robbed. Goodness!

"If this is the only thing that went down in Ypsi last night this is a good sign." Ha. True.

Public intoxication can get you arrested in Ypsi? Not in Ann Arbor. They would have to arrest a couple of thousand students every Friday afternoon. And Thursday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday. I'm not sure about Tuesday. Monday, none of them are yet awake.

Well it's a shame for the very hard working downtown merchants who try so hard to maintain the downtown area. Sad.

it is that time of year where the flowers will soon see the compost piles. if they want to pull flowers that badly, sentence them to spend their time finishing the task when the flowers are dead. oh, yes, i meant allegedly if they want to pull flowers that bad.

I hope they don't end up in Jail...I think they should be outfitted in orange and made to replant them on a busy Saturday. Their dime.

Another gem = jello wrestling, parrot shaking, fork stabbing, flower pulling. The local police could publish a book of the wonders of law enforcement in the area.
