Suspicious man spotted near Eastern Michigan University sorority house
A suspicious man has been spotted on at least four occasions this year outside an Eastern Michigan University sorority house near the intersection of Emmet Street and College Place, Ypsilanti police said.
Det. Sgt. Troy Fulton said the man has loitered, peered over a back fence and thrown snowballs at the house.
The man has mostly been spotted during the early evening hours, Fulton said. EMU police officers have stepped up patrols in the area because the property is adjacent to campus, school officials said. Sorority members also will be meeting with the university's crime prevention officer, officials said.
The man is described as black, 5 feet, 7 inches tall, with a medium build. He usually wears dark clothing, Fulton said.
Anyone with information can call Ypsilanti police at (734) 483-9510.

I doubt that this will pass AnnArbor.com's hypersensitive guidelines, but two generqtions ago the nearby men's fraternities would lend a hand, by setting up stakeout and, when the perp was caught in the act, giving him a beating that would dissuade him from window-peeping for the rest of his life.

If this man was described as white, I would have tips for the police. (I just happen to know someone working in the area).

Is YPD stepping up patrols in the area as well or just EMU police, the house sits atleast two blocks off campus. I'm well aware that EMU police has city wide jurisdiction but that doesn't mean they should focus on homes in Ypsilanti. Something tells me if there was a problem on EMU's campus Ypsilanti Police wouldn't be directing resources toward solving the problem.

"The man is described as black, 5 feet, 7 inches tall, with a medium build. He usually wears dark clothing." That description is not very helpful as it could describe hundreds of EMU students who use that very busy interesection every day... and evening (night classes)

The suspect was last seen hopping down the bunny trail. Police reported that there was some forensic evidence at the scene suggesting some kind of pellet-based weapon may have been involved. Additional investigation may reveal whether the suspect was egged on by others.

Note to readers: the above comment was written in mockery of the original headline which read "...near *Easter* Michigan University sorority house". @aa.com: I understand that our choices in traditional journalism in this town are limited. A good editor may be tough on your budget, but it does help the reputation.
