Washtenaw County sheriff's deputies investigate 6 car break-ins
The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department is warning people to take precautions and remove their valuables from vehicles — especially GPS units — following a series of recent car break-ins.
Between Friday and Monday, six thefts from vehicles were reported, with four in Ypsilanti Township, one in Superior Township and one in Ann Arbor Township.
The incidents in Ypsilanti Township included:
- 2000 block of Golfside Drive, occurred between 8 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday. A car window was smashed to gain entry, and a car stereo was stolen.
- 8000 block of Spinnaker Way, occurred between 10 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday. A car window was smashed to gain entry, and a car amplifier/booster was stolen.
- 9000 block of Bayview Drive, occurred between 8:30 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday. A car window was smashed to gain entry, and a GPS unit was stolen.
- 9000 block of Bayview Drive, occurred between 6 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. A car window was smashed to gain entry, and the glove compartment was ransacked but nothing was taken.
The incident in Superior Township:
- 7000 block of Abigail Drive, occurred between midnight and 4 a.m. Friday. Someone entered an unlocked tool box in the open bed of a pickup truck and stole a large amount of miscellaneous tools.
The incident in Ann Arbor Township:
- 200 block of Village Green Boulevard, occurred between 10 p.m. Monday and 4 a.m. Tuesday. A car window was smashed to gain entry, and a GPS unit and miscellaneous coins were taken.
Police do not have any suspects in the thefts.
