U-M police ask student to leave library for masturbating while watching porn
University of Michigan police made a student leave a university library Monday after it was discovered he was watching pornography and masturbating, according to Department of Public Safety officials.
U-M officers responded at 11:42 p.m. Monday to the Shapiro Undergraduate Library after a staff person reported seeing the student touching himself while looking at the computer screen.
The staff member told police there were complaints from other library-goers in the same area, according to police.
Department of Public Safety officers made contact with the student and asked him to leave the area, according to police.
The investigation into the incident was reported to be closed as of Tuesday, according to police.

I am really shocked that this person was not arrested or detained for a bit. This definitely shows a lack of judgement (regarding the place) of the individual. I hope we don't read about him later and wonder how "no one had a clue".

With so many males getting public urination tickets, it seems suprising that he was just "asked to leave". Keep it in your pants in public!

Remember that song "I touch myself"? <a href="http://www.lyrics007.com/Blondie%20Lyrics/I%20Touch%20Myself%20Lyrics.html" rel='nofollow'>http://www.lyrics007.com/Blondie%20Lyrics/I%20Touch%20Myself%20Lyrics.html</a>. The perfect background music for this story.

You don't really need to. If you have good ID, you can let him go, get a warrant and then arrest him. Had they arrested him, they could print him, but then likely just release him pending the warrant being issued. Keeps the officers on the road. Had he not had good ID, he probably would have been taken in.

There would have been a complaint from me also. There is a place for everything, but NOT the library!

Good thing the cops did not arrest him because the ACLU would have defended him for violation of his freedom of expression.

Sheesh, the graduate library has private study rooms. And it's only about 50 yards away.

They may be somewhat private, but even there, the door's say "do not cover the glass." I guess if a "study buddy" is going to be presenting himself, the library staff want to know about it. Good call, apparently.
