Pittsfield Township police say a man selling drugs out of a hotel room at the Days Inn was robbed and struck in the head with a pistol early today.

A woman in the room also was hit in the head with the pistol, and both suffered scalp and facial cuts, according to a press release.

Four people were inside the room in the hotel at 2380 Carpenter Road when the robbery occurred at 6:40 a.m., police said.

The male victim told police two men entered the room and stole a large amount of cash. The robbers fled before police arrived, and the victims were unable to provide detailed descriptions of them, the release said.

Police said they learned the man who was staying in the hotel room may have been selling and manufacturing controlled substances in his room. The robbery does not appear to be a random act, police said.

Both the other people inside the room — a man from Northville and woman from Novi — were arrested on bench warrants and were taken to the Washtenaw County Jail. A 67-year-old Pittsfield Township man who showed up at the hotel room while officers were there also was arrested, police said.

The two people struck with the pistol were treated by paramedics at the scene, but declined to be transported to the hospital, police said.

No arrests have been made in the robbery.
