Michael Donnell Johnson, 42, and Bonnie Jean Metro, 31, both of Ypsilanti, were arraigned this afternoon at the Washtenaw County Jail on charges including two counts each of first-degree home invasion and second-degree home invasion.

They are accused of breaking into homes at the following locations between 9:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Monday: the 300 block of East Jefferson Street, 800 block of Greenwood Avenue, 900 block of Oakland Avenue and 1000 block of Oakland Avenue.

In two cases, people were home, Det. Sgt. Brian Jatczak said. Jatczak said the two were arrested about 12:30 p.m. Monday on Oakland Avenue after officers responded to investigate one of the break-ins.

Officers searched a car the two had been using, Jatczak said, and recovered much of the stolen property. It's unclear how the two know each other, he said.

Two of the homes had people in them? I'm not a Second Amendment fanatic, but events like this make me wonder if personal armament has its uses.

It does! This is a prime example. Do you really want to be fighting these 2 hand to hand in your house? What diseases do they have when you get their blood on you during close contact? There's one of you, two of them, what are your odds? With a firearm, you suddenly have the complete upper hand and the tactical advantage of knowing the layout of your house like the back of your hand. Suddenly they have almost no chance of hurting you instead of the other way around.

I thought this story sounded familiar. Turns out we have some copy cat crooks from OUT OF TOWN committing crimes in the same area in the same fashion. http://www.annarbor.com/news/crime/two-charged-with-burglarizing-three-homes-in-ann-arbor/

wouldn't be surprised if there's a dealer's house in the general area I've noticed a fair amount of unusual traffic at night in the neighborhood north of Packard between Platt & US23, too, like people are meeting up for transactions. I haven't seen police in there in a long time. It's as if these clowns are just going a block or two off of main streets onto quiet streets, sometimes mixing in with parked cars, but not so far off that they can't flee easily when spooked.

Between this and all the attacks on women recently, you wonder if the summer weather is bringing in more than tourists to Ann Arbor. Not a good time for cutbacks in police on the streets.

VamosAzul Couple what you said with the fact that most crooks are really pansies that can not tolerate the cold weather. Thus less crime in the winter!

Actually, hot weather is associated with increased violence and criminal activity. The statistics support this fact, and it's thought to be due to the increased irritation (which is associated with aggression) caused by humidity as well as the fact that people spend more times out and about when it's warmer. Coupled with the timing in police cutbacks, it certainly is unfortunate.

"It's unclear how the two know each other, he said." Maybe they met in the parking lot outside a pawn shop?
