The trailer, being used by the Cowhy-Hayes construction company out of Clinton, Mich., was secured at the end of the work day on Tuesday, Bush said. When workers returned Wednesday morning, the lock on the door was cut and the tools were missing.
A chain-link fence surrounds the construction site. There was no evidence any damage had been done to the fence, Bush said.
In addition to the construction tools, a hard hat also was reported stolen, Bush said.
Ann Arbor police detectives continue to investigate the incident. Anyone with information on the theft is encouraged to call the Ann Arbor police anonymous tip line at 734-794-6939 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP (773-2587).
