Teenager arrested for allegedly breaking into cars, stealing cologne and cash
Ann Arbor police arrested an 18-year-old man for allegedly breaking into three cars and stealing a menagerie of items during an early morning spree.
Ann Arbor police Lt. Renee Bush said the man preyed on unlocked cars early Tuesday in the 2100 block of Stone School Circle. Police responded to the area at 4:40 a.m., she said. A caller reported a car had been broken into, the interior lights in the vehicle were on and personal items were missing.
Officers in the area stopped the teenager after discovering he matched the suspect description they had been provided, Bush said. Investigators arrested the teenager and found stolen property on him.
He was surprised to see investigators arrive on the scene so quickly, she said.
Among the reported stolen items were cash, a briefcase, phone chargers, jewelry, video game systems, bank cards, playing cards and cologne, Bush said. Some of the property was recovered.
The teenager was still in lockup at the Ann Arbor Police Department Tuesday. AnnArbor.com is not releasing his name because he has not been formally charged with a crime to this point.

1: a luncheon or supper buffet offering a variety of foods and dishes (as hors d'oeuvres, hot and cold meats, smoked and pickled fish, cheeses, salads, and relishes) 2 : an often large heterogeneous mixture : mélange These are definitions of "smorgasbord"; I had wondered yesterday if the journalist was looking for this word. It comes from Swedish for "open sandwich".

Seems like he could have bought all that stuff if he were to take a part time job.

Add hidden valley club apt's to that list. I lock my car now due to someone stealing a sealed box out of my car. Also, rifled through my glovebox. I thought A2 was more safe than this. GUESS NOT

I believe the word you were reaching for was "melange" and not menagerie.

Well, some dictionaries are okay with using "menagerie" figuratively - to refer to a strange collection of people or things. i.e., meaning the word can be used as "ironic humor" - as in: Our city council is a menagerie. So the A2.com reporter skids by with that one. ;-) Yet, our learned A2.com journalist might have had the word "melange" in mind. That too refers to a "jumbled collection" and that kind of thing.

Such a nice-looking area. Thanks for the map and the capacity to zoom in. Stone School Circle's sign doesn't stand out as well as Valencia and Champagne Street signs do.

@DowntownDweller, please see definition #2. Also, please note the example given in the last line. Kyle used this word appropriately. From Merriam-Webster.com: Definition of MENAGERIE 1a : a place where animals are kept and trained especially for exhibition b : a collection of wild or foreign animals kept especially for exhibition 2: a varied mixture See menagerie defined for English-language learners » See menagerie defined for kids » Examples of MENAGERIE a menagerie of rare creatures

18 and 19 year old adults are teenagers. Maybe AA.com choose to call them teenagers on account of the fact that their brains are not yet fully mature, not until around age 26 or so.
