Police: Shooting victim initially abducted from Ypsilanti street

At 1 p.m., Ypsilanti police interviewed witnesses at the corner of East Michigan and Park who said two men in a red Chevy Camaro grabbed the man off the street.

Twenty minutes later, the man -- who police believe is around 30 years old -- was found with gunshot wounds seven miles away, near the Arbor Hills subdivision in Superior Township. Police said he was shot with a small, black semi-automatic handgun.

Police still are trying to determine what happened between the time of the abduction and the discovery of the wounded man. According to the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office, police do not know if the man was shot where he was found or if it happened earlier. He is currently in stable condition at University of Michigan Hospital.

The Ypsilanti police, who are investigating the incident along with the sheriff's office, think the incident is retaliation for a separate incident a few days ago.

The suspects have been identified as a 23-year-old man and a 26-year-old man, both of Ypsilanti. Sgt. Kent Overton of the Ypsilanti Police Department said the three men were acquainted and "grew up in the same area."

Updated: Police were still actively searching for the two suspects as of late Saturday afternoon.
