According to the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office, someone drove a golf cart on the course and ran over the flagsticks. The damage was reported Sunday morning, according to deputies.
The flagsticks were broken and there was damage done to the greens on the course as well, deputies said.
According to a post on the Polo Fields' Facebook page, a resident in the Polo Fields neighborhood heard a loud noise about 4 a.m. Sunday. The resident found people in a golf cart destroying his mailbox, who then fled when confronted.
The man chased the golf cart, but lost them when they drove across a resident's lawn and onto the golf course, according to the post. He reported there was alcohol on the golf cart and the people appeared to be drinking.
The golf course is at 5200 Polo Fields Drive.
No suspect information was available Tuesday afternoon.
Anyone with information on this case is encouraged to call the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office anonymous tip line at 734-973-7711 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP (773-2537).

When you figure lost play, damage to the greens, damage to the mail boxes and damage to the golf cart. $50,000.00. Just a guess. O' I forgot legal fees when they catch this person or persons.

When they catch these criminals, the punishment should include being forced to watch a televised golf event.

Given the choice between being forced to watch 6 hours of golf on TV and 3 days in jail, I'd take the jail time.

What a bunch of jerks! Hope they're caught, and have to pay restitution. That said, it sounds like way more fun than golf...

Is nothing sacred? No ground hallowed? Having said that, I'd have paid genuine cash money to be a witness.

Sacred? Hallowed? That's way over the top. It's just a golf course.

"Oh! He got every bit of that one!" Now that that's out of my system, I do hope they find the culprit(s) soon and that he/she/they make appropriate restitution.

"Rogue" should be replaced with "criminal" in the headline. These are criminal acts.

Kidding aside, "rogue cart driver" and "joyriding" do tend to trivialize what is likely felony vandalism with damages in the thousands of dollars.

How about "unauthorized"?

Thanks Brad for the name of the character. And there must be somebody out there who's not a Bill Murray fan or Caddie Shack fan, voting me and Ignatz down.

Carl something. I was trying to work "It's a Cinderella story!" or "IT'S IN THE HOLE" into this story. I am not that talented.

Where's Bill Murray? Can't remember the name of the Grounds Keeper he played in "Caddie Shack".
