A man wearing a ski mask robbed the BP Gas Station at 3720 Washtenaw Avenue at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, police said.

The man entered the gas station brandishing a long gun and demanded money from the clerk,Ann Arbor police Lt. Renee Bush said Monday morning.

“The clerk complied and the suspect left on foot behind the business,” Bush added.

Witnesses pumping gas at the time said the suspect got into an older model, white car and fled southbound on Yost Boulevard.

The suspect is described as white male, between five feet eight inches and six feet tall with a skinny build.

No one was injured. Police say the suspect made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to call Detective Dave Monroe at 794-6930, ext. 49308, the Ann Arbor police anonymous tip line at 734-794-6939 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP (773-2587).

Looks like the robber knows the area, taking yost down to packard is a good way to get around traffic (or his GPS app is set to "getaway" mode)

If he didn't want to be spotted from a police helicopter, I can see why his getaway car would use Yost instead of southbound US-23, even though Yost has speed bumps.

Who knows what I missed when I turned down that scholarship opportunity to "Armed Robbery 101", but if you have a car I think you want a clean getaway. That stretch of Washtenaw Ave. just doesn't fit the bill, most 2:30 pms I've been there. Of course, like with a poultry farm, if you live near there you get used to it

There has been a continuous spate of crimes against businesses and parked cars along Washtenaw between Stadium and US 23. Is there any way we spend less on utopian plans to "Reimagine Washtenaw," to make this important travel corridor look more like Kerrytown, and spend more on police surveillance to prevent crime and start taking the criminals off the street? Washtenaw needs fewer planners, more police.

Washtenaw is just typical car-centric sprawl.

Crime is at historic lows. Not every crime can be stopped or solved. Apologies for troubling you with the facts.
