Police investigate reported sexual assault at U-M Hospital

By Lee Higgins

University of Michigan police continue to investigate a report that a patient was sexually assaulted last week at U-M Hospital.

A 20-year-old Ypsilanti woman was walking in a hall to her hospital room at about noon Feb. 23 when another patient reportedly touched her groin area, police said.

The victim was wearing clothes and wasn't injured, police said. Police have identified the other patient as a 58-year-old Ann Arbor man, but no charges have been filed as the investigation continues.

Police said the assault was reported about nine-and-a-half hours after it occurred.

They are still pretty good at burying things. This happened sometime last week.

Just because this "story" is being written for the internet now does not mean the hospital buried anything. *rolleyes*

How unusual! A crime in the hospital is being investigated by the police instead of by hospital security and the General Counsel's Office. Has the UM learned something from the botched child porn investigation?

your statement is as misguided as it is pointless. No where in the story does it say security was investigating but it's being taken over by campus PD. You're trying to tie in a completely unrelated child porn case to this sexual assault. And who's to say the incident wasn't first reported to security then given to Campus PD? Security reports crimes to the police. You're trying to connect dots that are not there. This is misguided slander and should be removed.

I simply wondered why it was reported 9 1/2 hours later. Why was that a violation?
