Police: Intruder curses and flees after hearing resident call 911
A home invasion suspect was still inside an Ypsilanti Township woman's home when she called police early Sunday morning.
She even heard the suspect mutter "Oh" and an expletive before disappearing, police said.
Deputies from the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office were called to the home in the 80 block of South Hewitt Road for a home invasion in progress at 1:55 a.m.
“She was basically asleep and heard some pounding,” said Sgt. Geoff Fox of the sheriff's office.
When she called 911, she heard the suspect curse from inside the house. She didn't hear anything else after that, but did discover the front door had been kicked in. Nothing was taken, police said.
There are no suspects at this time.

I disagree...."the authorities are on their way" sounds silly and would take too long anyway.

Better thought...yell "I have a gun and the authorities are on their way!" You would be silly to announce that you still have steps to take to protect yourself.
