Police believe same man robbed BP gas stations in Pittsfield Township and Ann Arbor

By Kyle Feldscher

Police confirmed the 25-year-old man arrested following an armed robbery in Pittsfield Township Monday also robbed a gas station in Ann Arbor Saturday and is a suspect in a Bay City robbery.

Ann Arbor Police Detective Lt. Robert Pfannes said police believe the 25-year-old Sebewaing, Mich., man robbed the BP gas station at 3720 Washtenaw Ave. Saturday afternoon. Police also believe the same man held up the BP station at 4975 Washtenaw Ave. with a shotgun on Monday morning.

Pittsfield Township police arrested the man after a short search Monday morning.

Pfannes said the man is being held in the Washtenaw County Jail while he waits to be arraigned on the charges. His arraignment could come Tuesday afternoon or on Wednesday, he said.

Details were not immediately available about the robbery in Bay City.

Police have now made arrests in all three armed robberies at gas stations that have occurred since Saturday.

A 29-year-old Ypsilanti Township man was arrested on suspicion of robbing the Shell gas station at 2991 S. State St. in Ann Arbor. Police Lt. Renee Bush said the man brandished a gun and took cash from the station.

The man fled in a minivan but was stopped by officers on patrol. The cash and the gun were both recovered, Bush said. It’s unknown what kind of gun was used in the incident.

The Shell gas station robbery suspect is expected to be arraigned on Wednesday, Bush said.

Bush praised officers work in the recent arrests.

“They’re doing a great job on patrol,” Bush said. “Just an awesome job on patrol.”

Yins what are posting about "Good Police Work." Police Work does not count. What counts is the decision that Pros Aty Brian Mackey makes, up in his lofty tower in the County Clerk's Bldg. Yins can count on PA Mackey to "finese" these Brutal Gun-Point Crimes into a "slap-on-the-wrist" sentence. I implore yins sapient readers to Followthis case to conclusion. Thereafter, I ask yins: Is this the kind of criminal justice we want in Washtenaw County? Stick a shot gun in a cashier's face and get away with a "slap on the wrist?"It will be Disgusting! Utterly Disgusting!!! Yer tax dollars at work, paying his $120K+ salary and benefits!

Sebewaing is up in the "Thumb." 150 miles from Pittsfield Twp. For a "suspect" to travel to Pittsfield with a shot gun and utilize the shot gun to effect an Armed Robbery, and be recorded on the taxpaying gas station's surveillance video, should compel our elected Circuit Judge, if the dude is convicted, to impose the statutory penalty of Life in Prison. But don't hold your breath boys and girls. Our Prosecuting Attorney Brian Mackey, Afraid of going to trial, will "Plea Bargain" this case down to a Lesser Charge. That's the way that so-called "Criminal Justice" works in this county, "thanks" to Prosecuting Attorney Brian Mackey!!!

I witnessed some of the patrols after Saturday's robbery. I didn't know what had happened at the time, but realized that several cars were working the blocks near the gas station in a systematic manner. Happy to hear of the arrests and the quick end to this gas station crime wave!
