Police arrest 1 man after foot chase, seek 2 others suspected in car break-in attempt at WCC
One man is under arrest, and investigators are searching for two more after an attempted car theft and foot chase Tuesday morning, sheriff's officials said.
Sgt. Geoffrey Fox, of the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office, said deputies were dispatched to Washtenaw Community College, off Huron River Drive, at 9 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a man who appeared to be trying to break into a car. Deputies were told the man got into a different car and drove away from the college, Fox said.
A deputy nearby spotted the car near the intersection of Washtenaw Avenue and Hogback Road and followed it, Fox said. The deputy trailed the car until the driver parked it and three men got out, fleeing on foot into the woods near Huron Parkway, Fox said.
Ann Arbor and Pittsfield Township police officers assisted deputies in a search on foot through the woods. Eventually, one of the men was arrested but the other two have yet to be found, Fox said.
A description of the two men was not immediately available Tuesday morning. Fox said investigators may release more information on the incident later in the day.
