Michigan receiver Jerald Robinson appears in court Friday, warrant canceled

Robinson was wanted for missing a March 23 court appearance but appeared at 9:08 a.m. Friday, and the bench warrant was lifted, according to court records. He’ll return for a pretrial hearing at 9 a.m. on May 14, records stated.

The charges stem from a Feb. 4 incident. Robinson was charged with malicious destruction of property more than $200 but less than $1,000, records show. He faces up to one year in jail and a $2,000 fine, if convicted.

In court documents, Robinson’s address was listed as his hometown of Canton, Ohio. The court will typically send notices to appear to the defendant’s last known address, and Robinson has been in Ann Arbor participating in football activities.

He was injured in the Wolverines’ spring game last week and is expected to contend for a starting job when the season begins.

A university spokesman said Thursday the program didn't learn of the warrant until late Wednesday, and had no further comment. A spokesman for the university’s athletic department was not immediately available Friday morning.
