By John Counts

A 28-year-old man told police he was involved in a fight with a group of people around midnight Wednesday in Ypsilanti.

According to the Ypsilanti Police Department’s incident summary, the man reported he was involved in a large fight with an unknown group of people on the 600 block of Armstrong Court.

He was cut on the left side of his body under his arm, possibly by a knife, police said.

Police have no suspect information at this time and were not available for additional comment.

Who really cares if it was Tues or Wed. It was a fight and the man got cut. He must have been in the wrong place at some time. Nothing good happens after 11 p.m. and sometimes not even after 11 a.m.

Armstrong Ct again. Every week there is something bad happening there and the street isn't that long.

Unless I am wrong, isn't today Wednesday? If so, we haven't hit midnight yet...just saying. If that is the case, the police should be forewarned there is to be a fight at the 600 block of Armstrong, soon.

With all due respect John, midnight Wednesday had not yet arrived when this article was posted at 7:10 pm Wednesday. If the incident happened "around midnight" Tuesday night, that means it either happened late Tuesday or early Wednesday morning. If it happened "around midnight Wednesday," that means it happened either late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. Saying it happened "Tuesday night" if it was after midnight Tuesday would indeed be technically incorrect, because it would be early Wednesday morning at that point, but it still wouldn't be midnight Wednesday night. "Late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning" is neither confusing or incorrect; "around midnight Wednesday is both confusing and incorrect.

The day technically changes at midnight. Saying it happened "Tuesday night" if it was after midnight would be wrong. It gets tricky. So therefore we have no other option than to say it happened Wednesday, though most folks would think of it as Tuesday night.
