Two men swiped a 19-year-old Ann Arbor man's takeout order as he walked down the street Sunday near the former Borders store downtown, police said.

Ann Arbor police Lt. Renee Bush said the man ordered food at the Jerusalem Garden restaurant, received his carry-out order and was walking east between 4:20 and 4:30 p.m. Sunday in the 600 block of East Liberty Street. Two men were walking west toward him when one of them reached out his hand toward the food and said “Thank you” as if the 19-year-old were giving it to him.

The 19-year-old declined to give the man his food and continued walking. Bush said the man said “Thank you” again, but this time grabbed the food out of the 19-year-old’s hand. The 19-year-old was shocked and afraid the two men might have weapons or would fight him for the food and surrendered his order to them.

The man then reported the incident to police. He said he didn’t know who the men were and never saw any weapons on the men.

No one was injured during the incident.

The first man was described as black, about 45 years old, between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall, weighed approximately 185 pounds and was wearing a white T-shirt. The second man was described as black, about 45 years old and between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall. He weighed about 185 pounds. He had brown eyes, black hair in a short afro, a dark complexion, and was wearing a white T-shirt, Bush said.
