Man robbed at gunpoint at Glencoe Hills Apartments in Pittsfield Township

By Lee Higgins

A man was robbed early this morning by three armed men at Glencoe Hills Apartments in Pittsfield Township, police said.

About 12:26 a.m., the man was walking in a parking lot at the complex in the 2100 block of Glencoe Hills Drive when 3 men who were carrying long guns approached him, a police news release said.

One of the men told the victim to hand over his money, the release said. When the victim pulled out his wallet and cellphone, police said the men took the items and ran east toward Arbor Pointe Apartments. Officers responded and detained three people at Arbor Pointe but released them as the investigation continues, the release said.

The men involved were described as black, in their late teens or early 20s and were wearing dark clothing, police said. One was wearing a red baseball cap.

Anyone with information can call police at (734) 822-4911.

Oh Just wait until the 800 families in Washtenaw county alone get cut off Oct. 1st in the new 4 year limit on welfare. It is not safe NOW, (some wacko still raping or grabbng or whatever) and now this type of robbery is going to be on the rise. My mom lives near there and i have already warned her to stay home at night, and watch out!

Where are the comments "not blaming the victim" but reminding folks not to walk alone at night? Oh that's right...in this case, the victim is a man.

Sounds to me like these 3 men needs some probation and some anger management classes as part of their treatment plan. In addition a lot more money on their welfare bridge cards so they are not tempted to steal from people who work. Also they should be given cars so they can better find jobs themselves along with free college tuition, books, fees, and room and board along with free section 8 housing, but in wealthy area of town so they aren't hanging with other socially disadvantaged individuals who might hinder their rehabilitation efforts. This is all of course if these 3 men are found guilty of the crime they are accused of.

Even if the victim were packing heat as everybody knows you are supposed to do or you'll fall victim to the predators, how the heck will you win a shoot-out with THREE armed guys?!?! Serious question. Not a troll.

Start by having a plan. Follow through with a weapon of your own and training. Immediately in that situation,if you cannot escape, know the difference between cover and concealment. Have a reload and make each shot count.

I saw that movie, too. Not to spoil the outcome, but I think it ended with the hero getting the girl.

Usually if the good guy fires a shot the bad guys scatter armed or not.Not saying I would recommend it by any means, but you since asked

It is the rare month that the ANN ARBOR OBSERVER crime map does not contain at least one incident at this place, which looks rather tranquil and well kept ....and yes, the headquarters of the police are right nearby on Hogback. Very disturbing.

Wrong, the police station is on Michigan Avenue, west of Platt Road. There is a continuous police presence in this densely populated part of the township, but that doesn't discourage some people.

Isn't the jail right there too? Maybe some Pittsfield cops should hang out at those apartments one night since that place is such a magnet for dirtbags like this and catch them in the act. Given the close proximity to the jail, they should be able to get this done pretty quickly. Then they can get right back to their speed catching hideout at that old manufacturing plant on Carpenter across from the Meijer.

I can't get out of this area soon enough! I feel safer walking from Corktown to Comerica Park than I do walking around Washtenaw County.

Those who seek to strip us of our sacred Second Amendment rights are just the type to find something wrong with three hunting buddies carrying long guns during small arms season. There are plenty of squirrels in and around Glencoe, let me tell you.

The description of the criminals sounds the same for most of the crimes committed in the area-- including the attempted robbery that occurred earlier.

How do 3 men walk around with long guns and nobody calls the police? And how do 3 men feel comfortably walking around with long guns?

"3 men who were carrying long guns approached him" Great. Three men just walking around in a parking lot with shotguns and/or rifles. Ann Arbor/Ypsi is now the wild wild west .... what's next?
