Man pleads guilty to robbing Ann Arbor Check 'N Go
A 23-year-old Ann Arbor man has pleaded guilty to two counts of unarmed robbery for holding up a Check ‘N Go location in the city on Jan. 11.

James Romell Robinson will be sentenced on March 7, according to Ann Arbor police Detective William Stanford. In exchange for his plea to the unarmed robbery charges, the two counts of armed robbery Robinson was facing will be dropped.
At 1 p.m. Jan. 11, Robinson entered the Check ‘N Go at 1912 W. Stadium Blvd. and passed a note to a teller implying he had a weapon. He was given an unknown amount of cash and forced the other employees to get on the ground before fleeing on foot.
On Feb. 1, a warrant was approved for his arrest and Robinson turned himself into police on Feb. 4. He was arraigned on Feb. 5. Thursday’s preliminary exam at the 14A-1 District Court in Pittsfield Township was his first court hearing after arraignment.
The maximum punishment for unarmed robbery is 15 years in prison. Robinson remains at the Washtenaw County Jail on a $25,000 cash or surety bond, according to jail records.
