19-year-old accused of trying to break into Pittsfield Township home
A 19-year-old Ypsilanti man was arrested early Friday after attempting to break into a Pittsfield Township home through a back door, police said.
Police were dispatched at 5:03 a.m. Friday to the home in the 4300 block of Knollcrest Road, according to a police statement. One of the residents of the home reported a man was attempting to break into the home at that time.
Pittsfield Township police arrived and arrested the man. He was taken to the Washtenaw County Jail while the case has been turned over to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office for potential charges.
The man’s name was not released by police because he has not been formally arraigned on any charges to this point. There were no other suspects in the incident.

I truly hope that the resident that reported the false info to the police and the neighbors of that resident read this post. My only intention of commented on this story is to hopefully bring comfort to the neighborhood that this was reported in. On Friday morning at approx.. 5am a 19 y/o male was dropped off in this neighborhood by two unknown males. The 19 y/o male was only in this neighborhood seeking help!!! He was lost, his cell phone was dead and at this point was scared. He decided that he should knock on one of the homes door to ask for help, but after rethinking he thought if he did that at 5am he might scare the home owners so decided not to do that. At which point the Pittsfield police arrived. If you can only imagine the relief in this young man's mind, finally help is here. Within seconds of thinking that he was bum rushed to the ground by Pittsfield police, apprehended, and booked at the Washtenaw County Jail. While he was being booked at the jail the officer processing him asked if he knew why he was in jail, he responded with minor under the influence, the officer sadly told him that no it's much serious than that you are being charged with Attempting to break into someone's home. How devastating this was for him when all he was needing was HELP!!! This is an honor roll student, a great athlete, hard worker, and a huge support to his family during his baby sisters cancer treatment. This is not a criminal, just a young man that was lost and had no way to contact anyone for help…. To the residents in that neighborhood please feel safe to sleep at night this young man was not there to harm or violate anyone, he simply needed HELP!!!

This was all a misunderstanding. The teen didn't break or attempt to break into any home. He was released the following day considering there was no evidence supporting that accusation. Police should be more sure about who they're quick to throw cuffs on.

glad they caught him. Seems like there have been a ton of home invasions in this area.
