The man accused of hitting and killing veterans advocate Gary Lillie with his Chevrolet Avalanche and then driving away from the scene had his trial delayed for the second time Thursday.

Kevin Warren will return to Washtenaw County Trial Court Judge David Swartz’s courtroom at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 4 for a final pretrial hearing, and his jury trial is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 15, court documents filed Thursday show.

Warren had been scheduled to stand trial starting on July 9, which was delayed from an original April date.

He’s charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing death and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.

Warren is accused of hitting Lillie with the passenger side of his vehicle late on Aug. 4 as Lillie walked along Marshall Road near Baker Road in Scio Township. Police said he was driving between 34 and 42 miles per hour when the accident occurred. Blood tests showed Warren’s blood alcohol level was at .12 percent after the crash, above Michigan’s .08 legal limit.

Warren is free on bond. He faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

Why is he free on bond? This is washtenaw county, you can litterly get away with murder and still get probation or a low or agree to appear type of bond. I am not saying he did it or didn't do it. Until we get rid of melinda morris and a few of the other slap on the wrist judges and plea down prosecuter this is/will be the norm.

No trial for 14 months. No reason for all the delays. Travesty of Justice.

In looking at Kevin's picture, I see a lot of good in this man. This is such a sad story in all areas. My heart goes out to him and the Lillie family.

You see a lot of good in the man just by looking at his picture huh? Perhaps you should move beyond what you see in a picture and look instead at the facts. This man knowingly and intentionally got behind the wheel of a several thousand pound vehicle while he was drunk. As a result another man, who probably also looked like a good man by his picture is DEAD. When is this country going to hold people accountable for there actions???? It is common knowledge that drunk driving KILLS PEOPLE. in 2011 alone more Americans were killed by people just like this good man in the photo than all of the American KIA in Iraq and Afghanistan since those wars began. And while you have Maurice Sendak laughing it up in an interview about his fantasy of killing George Bush and his wife with a bomb for starting those wars, here in non judgmental and open minded Ann Arbor, we have people declaring so much good in a man who took another man's life just by looking at his picture. I am truly disgusted
