Man accused of assaulting employee at Rick's American Cafe
A man is accused of hitting an employee at Rick's American Cafe over the head with a beer bottle early Friday morning, Ann Arbor police said.
Jason Newell McSherry, 25, of Kalamazoo, is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, aggravated assault and disorderly conduct.
Police said the 23-year-old employee told McSherry to leave the club on Church Street about 2 a.m. after McSherry shoved someone on the dance floor. As the employee started to walk away, police said McSherry struck him in the back of the head with the bottle.
The victim suffered cuts to his head and was taken by ambulance to University of Michigan Hospital, police spokeswoman Lt. Renee Bush said. McSherry was released Friday afternoon on a promise to appear in court after being arraigned at the Washtenaw County Jail, jail officials said.
McSherry is scheduled to return to court for a preliminary hearing Sept. 21.

Promises, promises! I hope this guy is not a (no show) like some others. Those are some pretty serious charges. Wishing good recovery for the employee.
