Flatscreen television, laptops reported stolen in Christmas Day home invasion
Christmas is traditionally a time of giving -- not taking.
That wasn't the case over the holidays when police were dispatched to three separate home invasions in Ypsilanti Township.
On Tuesday -- Christmas Day -- deputies from the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the 700 block of Eugene Avenue for a report of a home invasion that occurred between 5 and 7:30 p.m. A window was broken to gain entry into the home. A flatscreen TV and two laptop computers were reported stolen, according to police. There are no suspects at this time.
In a second incident on Tuesday, deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of South Grove Street for a home invasion that had occurred at some point since Sunday. According to a news release from the sheriff's office, a neighbor called 911 after checking on the house and noticing the rear door had been forced open. Police believe numerous pieces of jewelry were stolen from bedrooms, though exactly what was stolen has yet to be determined.
On Wednesday, a home invasion was reported in the 900 block of Juneau Road, though it is believed to have occurred sometime since Dec. 22. According to police, a local church group going door to door noticed a sliding glass door was shattered.
"The suspect (or suspects) forced entry into the home by throwing a large landscaping rock through the glass door," the news release said.
The rooms were searched, but it is unknown what was stolen at this time, according to police. There are no suspects at this time.

I was really concerned about the possibility of being victimized while I was away for the holidays. I even set up some light timers. Thankfully, my street seems to be immune to the home invasions that occur along the major roads in the area where students live. Probably because you can hear a pin drop in the street at night.

Home invasion doesn't require someone else in the home . http://www.legislature.mi.gov/(S(tuakjq55besl4i55abftqi45))/mileg.aspx?page=GetObject&objectname=mcl-750-110a.

Doesn't home invasion mean someone was inside during the time the crime was committed?

Ann Arbor.com usually sometimes mentions in their stories how Michigan's home invasion laws are different than the norm.

"...700 block of Eugene Avenue for a report of a home invasion that occurred between 5 and 7:30 p.m. " This must mean someone was watching the residence to see when people weren't around. Scary.
