Jewelry, cash and credit cards reported stolen in home invasions

By John Counts

Police are investigating two home invasions in Ypsilanti and Superior townships.

On Friday, deputies from the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the 1100 block of Lester Avenue in Ypsilanti Township for a home invasion that happened during daylight hours. The home was entered through an unlocked back door and ransacked, according to a news release.

A laptop and numerous pieces of jewelry were reported stolen.

Deputies responded to a home invasion on the 1900 block of Savannah Lane in Superior Township on Saturday. It is believed to have occurred sometime overnight while residents were home. Police think the suspect or suspects entered through an unlocked sliding door. A cellphone and purse that contained money and credit cards were taken.

There are no suspects at this time in either case. Police continue to investigate.

AA.com removed my comment but it was along the lines of RJA. When are folks gonna learn to lock up. I don't think I violated their guidelines either!

In doubt

How do people lay down and go to sleep without knowing their place is locked ? In the case where the people were home, if someone had to BREAK in then they may have been heard and gotten caught. Even the other one, there was a chance that someone may have heard a noise and called the police. I do hope they get their belongings back, but come on people........don't make it easy on the crooks....please!

it amazes me too, that people don't lock their doors and windows. It is a must now days to keep all windows, doors (garage too) locked 24/7. I have sliders and use steel rods in them. I do hope the suspects are caught.
