Group of men takes U-M student's wallet in Sunday morning robbery
A group of men robbed a University of Michigan student south of Central Campus early Sunday morning, according to a crime alert sent out by U-M Police.
The alert stated a student was walking alone near Hill and Oakland streets about 3:25 a.m. Sunday when he was approached by between six and eight men. The men patted the student down and took his wallet, according to police.
No weapon was seen or implied, and the men fled the scene. At least three of the men fled toward the parking structure on Hill Street, but police could not find the suspects, according to investigators.
One of the suspects was a black man wearing a dark tank top, black skinny jeans and a flat-rimmed baseball hat. There were no suspect descriptions available for the other men involved in the incident.
Ann Arbor police are investigating the robbery. Anyone with information on the incident is encouraged to call the Ann Arbor police anonymous tip line at 734-794-6939 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP (773-2587).

We need more people going against university policy and carrying. A these degenerates would save the bus trip in from Ypsi if a few of them got shot now and again. Cops won't catch them, they are incapable of catching anyone who isn't committing a crime in their line of sight.

Rule #1, in ANY city you aren't intimately familiar with, don't go out at 3:25 am. Rule #2, RUN AWAY! (and I realize, it's easy for me to give advice from far away, sorry)

You would think with all the undercover cops out at that hour, that the rats would have been caught !

It's a concealed pistol license.

CPL extended to campus would cure this problem.

CPL would have solved everything. The victim would have pulled his gun, shot one of the six men, had his gun taken away by the remaining five, been shot himself. At least two dead instead of one wallet taken. Perfect.

just as we have designated drivers, we could have those who could be designated cpl in bars, allowed to carry IF they do not drink. It could be the same person. Imagine that.

And I'm sure the student wasn't coming back from the library at 325am. Most students have been drinking at that time of morning so a cpl would be useless because you ant carry with alcohol on board.

@a2citizen Well if the student lives on campus it's not like they have lockboxes on the edge of campus so that they can grab their pistol and defend themselves when leaving campus. No licensed pistols allowed on campus pretty much precludes those students living on campus from being able to defend themselves in that way pretty much anywhere. Just think, if you weren't allowed to keep a pistol in your home, then how exactly would you be able to ever carry a pistol?

Well, the packs are back as they are every fall. Same guys probably, they never get caught. At least they didn't beat the victim up this time.
