Update: Ann Arbor Police said Sunday morning they have no further information to release on this incident.

The Flagstar Bank branch at 2001 Commonwealth Blvd. on the north side of Ann Arbor was robbed Saturday morning.

Ann Arbor police confirmed the robbery occurred around 11 a.m. but declined to immediately release more details.

A woman who answered the phone at the bank said the bank had been robbed and had closed early as a result but declined to provide any other information.

A handwritten sign on the bank door apologized to customers for the closing. The bank is ordinarily open until 1 p.m. on Saturday.

The robbery was the second bank robbery in Washtenaw County this week. A PNC Bank branch in Ypsilanti Township was robbed Tuesday. Robert James Murdock of Ypsilanti was arraigned in that case Friday.

Ypsilanti is just a short trip down the freeway. This bank is right by an exit ramp. Makes for easy access.

Nice job annarbor.com, the staff at the branch are dealing with a stressful situation and someone at your oganization uses poor judgement and decides to interrupt them with a phone call. That shows no regard or concern for the bank employees.

Right. Don't call corporations in difficult times. The supreme court has decided they are people too, with feelings. It upsets them.

If thats the case I hand it to the person trying to get the story. Usually we are reading links to other papers.

WCC....then why didn't they call the Ann Arbor police department or the FBI directly to find out a description of the perpetrators or any other pieces of information you mentioned? It was very self serving for annarbor.com interrupt a criminal investigation, bother the bank staff while they are trying to process and help the authoruties during a stressful time. If its true they called during that time, that would be inappropriate. I know...I've been in the middle of that exact situation that the Flagstar employees went through today.

Apparently nobody was injured, and that is great. These dam thugs know they are going to get caught. I'm sure when the police investigate they will have more to report. Good job to the lady that locked the door and left the note.

Bank robbers sure do seem to love branches near freeways.

"A woman who answered the phone at the bank said the bank had been robbed and had closed early as a result but declined to provide any other information." -- They (banks) always decline providing any other information: because to do so would reveal the triviality of robbing banks - from the viewpoint of banks which suffer virtually no harm (they're insured after all). Did this bank close and then pay the employees for the day?? Did the owner and top executives get paid too? What would be your guess? ;-)

Tru, is your car insured? If so, I guess an accident would be "trivial".

Tru2Blue - banks are self insured when dealing with loss such as robbieries and fraud. FDIC coverage is only for case when financial instutuions go insolvent. Did you ever think information is not released because it could compromise the investigation. It's either local or federal policing agencies prerogative to release information as the see fit. Not the banks.

I don't think the tellers or customers who were in the bank think it's trivial. My guess is....that it's a scary thing to be involved in something like that and no one but you is thinking of salaries. *waiting for more details....*

What's up with all the bank robberies? Is the heat making people crazy?

If it were not for the Banksters robbing The People, then the inverse probably would not occur. Can you hear my tiny violin?
