Ann Arbor police Sgt. Craig Flocken said the vehicle was eastbound on Fair Street where it turns into a parking lot for the Manchester West apartments. He said the vehicle went off Fair directly into the bedroom of a nearby apartment.

The couple who live in the apartment were home at the time of the crash, which occurred about 12:45 a.m., but were in the living room watching television. There were no injuries reported.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene of the crash and remains at large, Flocken said. There was no suspect description immediately available.

The vehicle was removed from the home by 2:50 a.m. Tuesday.

As much as I hate drunk driving, he was smart to leave to scene, for leaving the scene of an accident is punished less harshly than a DWI.

Alcohol is so wonderful isn't it? when are people going to learn that no good comes from drinking and driving. Just Saying.

Well - residence from the apartment complex driving in general far to fast on Fair Street - as Linda said this was a straight drive - the person was most likely speeding - we should have speed bumps on Fair street to avoid those kinds of behavior - it is dangerous at times with some residence or their visitors are driven far to fast - something needs to be done before more happens

I went past there as I live on Fair, and it was a straight shot down Fair into the bedroom, slightly downhill. Driver must have been asleep or going very fast.

"A vehicle went off a street in Ann Arbor and crashed into a couple's bedroom" "the vehicle was eastbound on Fair Street" "He said the vehicle went off Fair directly into the bedroom " Why seek the driver? The vehicle was clearly at fault! It's fun to see the language of anthropomorphism applied to vehicles for a change.

arborani, thanks for the compliment, though I dispute that term not being applied to objects usually.. an·thro·po·mor·phism /?anTHr?p??môr?fiz?m/ Noun The attribution of human characteristics or behavior to a god, animal, or object.

"Anthropomorphism" means assigning human-like intent, emotion, deliberation, etc. to living but non-human species. Not usually applied to inanimate objects, but Ricebrnr's comment is droll.

Hmmm, I thought the air bags were to knock the driver out and keep them from fleeing. Well there might well be some blood traces on the air bag and they can do dndn test to identify who it is, plus the powder from the bags get all over the clothes. They find out who it was, just watch and see.

Must have been a drunk Spartan or out of towner ( certainly could not be anyone from Ann Arbor )

a spartan from Ypsilanti no doubt. The culprit was last scene fleeing east.

This happened to me once, too. Fortunately, in my case, the driver left his license plate behind, though he took the rest of the car with him when he fled. Good luck, folks--it's quite a surprising experience, to say the least!

Does the car involved have a license plate? At least ownership could be established via license plate registration. Investigators could go from there - whether the car was borrowed, stolen or driven by the registered owner. Just sayin' - leaving one's car behind after crashing into a bedroom doesn't seem like a "wise strategy" for escaping responsibility.

Did anyone ever think that the car was stolen?

I'd be willing to bet the driver knows they're going to get caught, but wants to sober up before a DUI. It's easier to explain a deer running out in front of you than to explain being superdrunk after a Michigan game.

true but if the owner wasn't driving and isn't corporative with the police, it can be hard to prove who was driving. Expect air bags make it much easier today, just a drop on blood on the bags will be enough for dna tests. Plus the powder gets all over the clothes, hair. I sometimes wounder if that is the main reason we got air bags today. I don't see NASCAR or others using them, even my local mail carrier truck doesn't have air bags. Air bags are not used anywhere else in the 20 years they have been in widespread use, hmmm. I wounder why if they really are so "safe" and helpful ? And how come kids are still not to ride in the front seat of any air bag car without an off switch ?

"The couple who live in the apartment were home at the time of the crash, which occurred about 12:45 p.m., ... . "" The vehicle was removed from the home by 2:50 a.m. Tuesday." Looks like you got the times mixed up, Kyle or you don't know when to use pm.
