Cashier assaulted during Ypsilanti Township robbery
A cashier was punched in the face as two men robbed an Ypsilanti Township store at gunpoint this morning, a Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department media summary said.
The men, who were wearing masks, entered the store in the 2000 block of East Ellsworth Road at 2:20 a.m. while the cashier was in a back room, the summary said.
The cashier came out and was ordered to empty the register, the summary said. The robbers made off with an undisclosed amount of money.
The summary does not say what store was robbed. Sheriff's Department spokesman Derrick Jackson could not be reached for comment this morning.
Both robbers were black and were wearing black masks covering part of their faces.
One was described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall, 180 pounds and was wearing a blue or black jacket, dark jeans, white and green tennis shoes and white gloves, the summary said. He had a silver semi-automatic handgun, the summary said.
The other was described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall, 175 pounds and was wearing a white and black jacket which had black sleeves and a black and white hood, the summary said. He was wearing dark jeans and white tennis shoes.
