Break-in suspect arrested after chase
For the second time in two days, Pittsfield Township police responded to a possible business break-in and ended up arresting a suspect.
The most recent incident took place at about 1 a.m. Monday at the Harvest Moon Cafe, 5484 W. Michigan Ave. near Carpenter Road.
Police responded to a burglary alarm, and as they arrived spotted a man running away.
Officers chased him and arrested him, after determining that restaurant had been burglarized.
The man - a 42-year-old resident of Westland - is now in the Washtenaw County Jail, awaiting arraignment on burglary; resisting and obstructing police; and parole violation charges.
This arrest follows a similar scenario early Saturday morning at an insurance office on South State. In that case, Pittsfield Township police responded after a witness reported a possible break-in.
