Authorities were dispatched to Superior Township around 1:20 p.m. Friday for a man who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Joyce Williams, spokeswoman for Huron Valley Ambulance, confirmed that medical emergency vehicles had been sent to the intersection of Northbrooke Drive and Ford Road for the shooting. The intersection is near the Arbor Hills subdivision.

The victim was transported to U-M Hospital in unstable condition.

The 911 call came from a citizen eyewitness, Williams said.

Updated at 2:47 p.m.: Ford Road is closed from the 6900 block to the 7000 block as investigators comb the side of the road where the male victim was apparently found. Paper and other materials were being collected as evidence.

Sgt. Geoff Fox of the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office said in all likelihood, the shooting didn't take place where the man was found.

"The shooting may have occurred somewhere else," he said.

Police have conducted a preliminary interview with the man, who Fox said had multiple gunshot wounds to his legs. Details are still trying to be pieced together. While the circumstances aren't yet known, police do know the shooter and victim weren't strangers.

"It was not a random act of violence," Fox said. "We have some good leads to follow up on."
