Ann Arbor police investigate sexual assault reported by University of Michigan student
Ann Arbor police are investigating an alleged sexual assault that was initially reported to the University of Michigan Department of Public Safety early Sunday morning.
U-M police issued an alert Sunday after a student said she was approached by four males and dragged into an alley on Hill Street between Church and Tappen, where she was sexually assaulted around 2:30 a.m.
The 18-year-old Ann Arbor woman had been drinking at two fraternity parties before the alleged incident occurred, Ann Arbor police Lt. Renee Bush said.
Her friends called her a cab to take her home from the second party. The woman stood outside for the ride, but got tired of waiting and decided to walk back to a friend's house, police said.
The woman told police she was headed west on Hill toward East University Avenue when four white males with brunette hair approached her and took her into an alley.
"She said she was then grabbed and sexually assaulted by one of them," Bush said. "She said she did not know them."
The woman was able to push the suspect off her and run to her friend's house, where she contacted U-M police.
She was treated at the University of Michigan Hospital. No other details are being released as Ann Arbor police detectives investigate the incident.
